Escapers Shot On Berlin Wall
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WEST BERLIN, July 8. In separate incidents during the last 24 hours. East German border guards have shot two refugees on the Berlin Wall as they tried to escape to the West West Berlin police say that a man, aged about 40, was gunned down near the Brandenburg Gate, when guards fired three bursts of a ma-chine-gun. The fugitive was apparently killed. Another refugee was shot down near the French sector and carried away in an ambulance, apparently badly injured, the West Berlin police say.
