Two S.I. Cadets

Two cadets from the South Island are in the party of five Air Training Corps cadets who will visit the United States this month as guests Of the United States Civil Air Patrol. They are Cadet Under Officer B. A. Wilson, of No. 26 (Oamaru) Squadron, and Cadet Warrant Officer R. S. Munro, of the No. 5 (Dunedin) Squadron. One of the two escorting officers will be Flight Lieutenant G. S. Stiles, officer commanding No. 23 (Nelson) Squadron. The aim of the international air cadet exchange scheme is> to promote international understanding, good will and fellowship among the youth of the world through a common interest in aviation.

The New Zealand party of seven is expected to leave by air on ’ July 19 and depart from the United States on August 10. The first four days of the cadets' stay will be in New York City. There they will be accommodated at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where they will meet about 200 cadets from 25 nations. For most of their tour through the country the cadets will stay at private homes.
