City Building Permits
The 273 building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council in June were valued at 81,171,307, compared with 322 permits worth $1,128,350 in June, 1967. New house construction increased, with 41 permits worth $312,434 last month compared with 35 permits worth $265,614 a year ago, as did work on other buildings, valued at $498,370 compared with $324,166; but permits for flats dropped from $221,600 a year ago to $107,850. Permits issued since March 31 totalled $2,902,266, compared with $3,247,954 a year ago.
