Missile Tests In France

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter) PARIS, July 5. France has successfully tested two long-range ballistic missiles while preparing a new series of nuclear tests expected to include its first H-bomb, the Armed Forces Ministry has announced. The first missile, a sea-to-ground ballistic strategic weapon, was fired from a launching pad in the Landes area of south-west France on Tuesday, the Ministry said. The other was launched from an underground silo on Wednesday. France has warned ships and planes away from the atoll of Mururoa, in the South Pacific, as from today as a signal for its new tests. These will include experiments with atomic warheads for ground-to-ground missiles fired from silos, and for Polaris-type missiles to be fired from nuclear-powered submarines.
