Pan American Changes
Mr J. T. Trippe, chairman and chief executive of Pan American Airways, has retired from those offices but remains a member of the board of directors and has been elected its honorary chairman. Mr Trippe was the founder of Pan American Airdays and has beep its chief executive officer for more than 40 years. He will be succeeded by Mr H. Gray, a pioneer aviator who joined Pan American Airways in 1929, two years after it was founded. Mr Gray made the first scheduled Pan American transatlantic flight He became a vicepresident in 1949, an executive vice-president in 1952, and president in 1964.
Mr N. E. Halaby will become president of the airline.
Before joining the airline in 1965 as senior vice-presi-dent he was deputy-assistant secretary of defence for international security affairs. He was a member of the original group which outlined proposals for the creation of the Federal Aviation Agency.
