HEDGE PLANTS
Several discrepancies in article on hedge plants which appeared on this page last week have been brought to my notice. It is hoped that the errors, which are now rectified, have not caused readers any inconvenience.
Myrtus ugni is now correctly known as Ugni mollinae and
has the common names of Chilean guava and Strawberry myrtle. This Chilean native is not, as I implied, the true cranberry from North America. The latter is a matlike plant called Vaccinium oxycoccus. The remarks concerning Olearia albida were meant for Olearia paniculata, which used to be known as Olearia forsteri.
