New Fishing Boat
A new fishing boat will be launched at Timaru on May 25 for Fisheries (South Island), Ltd, of Christchurch. The 52ft boat Kutere will fish for blue cod, which will be sold in the 20 Christchurch shops whose proprietors are shareholders of the company. Blue cod has been scarce in Christchurch. Kutere will cost about $40,000. The chairman of directors of the company (Mr B. R. Walker) yesterday said that the Kutere would have a refrigerated hold amidships able to take nine or 10 tons of fish. It was hoped that the Kutere would be fishing from Bluff by the first week in July. She is being built by D. F. Robb and Company, I Ltd, of Timaru.
