FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —A ridge of high pressure extends over New Zealand. A depression is moving eastwards across the central Tasman Sea towards the North Island. Forecast: Canterbury and Marlborough.—Light or moderate variable winds; cloudy this morning, with areas of drizzle; cloud breaking during the day and the weather becoming mainly fine; moderate temperatures. Nelson. Light or moderate variable winds; mainly cloudy, with some scattered showers, chiefly about the ranges; mild. Buller and Westland. —Moderate northeasterlies'; overcast, with occasional rain; the rain easing to showers and fair periods during the day; moderate temperatures. Outlook: Cooler, showery weather in the east, mainly fair in the west.
