U.K. Deficit Reduced
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON, May 15. Britain's overseas trade deficit was reduced by £sm to £B7m last month. Exports dropped by £2m to £sO4m, but tile import bill was cut from £652m to £645m. On direct trading—the buying and selling of goods overseas—the loss totalled £l4lm, but, after taking into account the value of invisible exports, such as revenue from shipping and insurance, this was cut to £B7m.
Some market experts had anticipated a loss of about £l3sm, and dealers in sterling and shares had already begun marking down prices.
