Saigon Bra Scare
(N.Z. Prest Assn.r-Copyright) SAIGON, May 12, Saigon's great bra mystery was finally exposed today. Some people even . suggested darkly that it may have been spread by brassiere manufacturers to step up sales. The whole thing began when a Vietnamese-language newspaper said the police suspected that Viet Cong women had stopped wearing brassieres as a secret undercover signal to recognise each other. Sales of brassieres in Saigon were said to be zooming. The English language Saigon “Daily News,” under the headline “Wear Your Bras,” said today: “Apparently the girls are afraid of being gaoled for exposing their natural wealth under a thin layer of clothes.” But the police exposed the whole business. There have been no arrests, they said, and they do not know about any secret Viet Cong fashions.
