The Sydney market opened the week yesterday on a strong note although the level of activity was a little below the rather hectic pace set on Friday. As usual, mining stocks were most prominent. Gold and silver, two valuable metals pushed aside to some extent in the current rush for other minerals, caused the sharpest rlsea of the day. Gold miners were marked up on the news that local producers would be able to sell their output at free prices. Emperor jumped 30c to 370 c. Gold Mines of Kalgoorlie- 35c to 220 c and Great Boulder under the influence of both gold and nickel, added 120 c to 040 c. W.M.C. firmed 40c to 1250 c. Leading miners were a shade easier. B.H.P. losing 50c to 2320 c, C.R.A. 10c to 1630 c. Oils were firm Ampol Exploration gained 55c to 360 c. C.S.R.. with a rise of 32c to 536 c, stood out in the Industrial section where other sugars wore also better. Tooth maintained its upward course firming 25c to 690 c. MELBOURNE Minings were Irregular with some gold and nickel companies making gains. Great Boulder touched 940 e and closed 20c up at 910 c. Western Mining eased.
