NOTICES TO BE SERVED
Clearance Of Stream Notices will be served on land owners, whose prooertiex bound the Little River Stream, to clear obstructions from the stream, the Waiwera County Council decided at is monthly meeting at Little River on Friday. The clearing of the stream had been a problem for several years, the chairman (Cr W. S. L. Mcßae) said, but the recent storm damage had made it much worse. The council will also contact the North Canterbury Catchment Board to ask it to determine what was an obstruction in the stream and what should be removed. Cr P. N. Ussher said the live trees in the stream were definitely an obstruction but the catchment board would have to approve the removal of live trees growing in the stream. Obstructions had to be removed at least 10ft from the bank of the river, the County Clerk (Mr W. F. Aydon) said. Legal Advice.—The council decided to seek legal advice to have a cattlestop on Bossu Road on Mr G. Simes’s property removed by the council if it was not repaired. A gate could not be put in instead of the present cattiestop, Mr Aydon said.
