Bass Decision Criticised
<N.Z Press Association) WHANGAREI. May 12. “Pressure has been brought to bear on the Cabinet Committee on freshwater gamefishing by the trout industry,” said Mr J. King, president of the Whangarei Acclimatisation Society and the Northland federation, commenting on the decision not to introduce large mouth bass to New Zealand. “It appears that they do not want competition for their established tourist attraction. “The decision was made without seeking advice from Northland societies which know local conditions,” Mr King said. "Trout liberation in Northland lakes ifi a waste of money and time.”
