SOVIET VIEW OF TALKS

The political commentator of the Soviet Government newspaper, “Izvestia,” said yesterday that the peace talks in Paris could prove successful, but they would succeed only if the United States representatives gave up the idea that they could achieve at a conference table what they could not achieve on the battlefield. The Soviet news agency, Tass, quoted one commentator as saying that there were indications that the atmosphere in Paris was favourable, and that the talks must bring results.
