Boy Badly Burnt

(N.Z. Press Association? AUCKLAND; May 12. An 11-year-old boy who, with a friend, climbed a power pylon at Albany on Saturday afternoon, was badly burned when 33,000 volts arced from a high tension wire to him. The boy, Keith Roland Marychurch, son of Mr and Mrs A. H. Marychurch, of Bass Road, Albany, was reported to be in a fair condition in the Middlemore Hospital tonight The boy’s father climbed the pylon to rescue him. Mr Marychurch said he had been on his way to call Keith home when the accident happened. Mrs A. Barnett, of Wharf Road, Albany, said Keith and her 11-year-old son, Russell, climbed to the top of the pylon. Russell said they were going to throw corks into the nearby Lucas Creek. Mrs Barnett said Keith had not touched the high tension wire. Power had apparently jumped from the wire to him.
