(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)
WANGANUI, May 16.
Police are searching for a car taken from a former Wanganui man by a confidence trickster.
The man who "lost” his car is Mr’ E. K. Wilson, formerly the Wanganui City Council’s accountant, and now Accountant with the Poverty Bay Catchment Board. In Wanganui recently, Mr Wilson advertised his 1965 Morris 1100 for sale. A man answered the advertisement giving his name and address at Aramoho, and. showing a driving licence to prove it He Mid he wanted to pay by cheque, and produced 1 lodgment slips which indicat-
ed he had banked considerable .sums of money recently. As a further token of good faith the man produced registration papers for another vehicle and left them with Mr Wilson. He paid the cheque, drove off in the car, and has not been seen since. The cheque was dishonoured, the registration papers turned out to be false, and Mr Wilson is minus his ear.
The car is painted grey and bears the licence number EV 3706.
