SAILINGS CHANGED

(N.I. Prett Auociation) WELLINGTON, May 10. Because of the backlog of inter-island goods traffic in railway waggons, the annual survey of the rail ferry Aramoana is being postponed about two weeks. The Railways Department said today that the Aramoana would remain in service until Hay 24. The annual survey of the Aranui had been completed, and she would return to service tomorrow when an extra sailing would be possible, the department said. Extra sailings, passenger and car space available will now run until May 23. From May 24 to June 5 some sailings have been cancelled. The Railways Department asks all passengers and car owners booked on the ferries during this period to confirm their booking. The 11 p.m. sailing from Picton to Wellington on May 15 has been cancelled and will be replaced by a sailing leaving Picton at 6.40 p.m.
