Hot luncheon and afternoon tea provided NOTE: A PARADE OF BULLS WILL BE HELD AT 11.30 A.M. 53 HEAD Comprising: 21 Rising Two-year Bulls. 3 Bull Calves. 4 Cows (second calving). 7 Rising Three-year In-calf Heifers. 6 Rising Two-year Heifers. 12 Heifer Calves. 53 Head The cows were mated to Bushy Downs L 3 and the in-calf heifers to Bushy Downs Perfection. The fourth Bushy Downs annual sale marks particularly the progress of the stud over the last few years. The 21 bulls represent the largest number catalogued yet and are easily the best line to come forward at this sale. The females are selected cattle which will appeal. Commercial breeders can buy with particular confidence as Bushy Downs series have more than proved themselves. At weaner fairs this year (each fair yarding approximately 2000 head) users of Bushy Downs bulls have sold: at Te Hoi, top priced pen heifers; at Waingaro, top priced pen heifers; at Te Awamutu, top priced pen steers and top priced pen heifers; at Opahere, second top price pen steers. Results speak for themselves—join the ranks of satisfied clients. Weight gain: Seven of the sale bulls weighed between November 17. 1967. and March 13, 1968, had an average gain of 31b per head per day. Their weights on the final weigh were from 10501 b to 12101 b. Weight gain or weight for age—either way they prove good. For the stud breeder wishing to improve handling qualities, bone virility, and quality incorporating desired commercial characteristics there will be several bulls available among the offering to suit. The Bushy Downs herd was established on Alton cattle of the late R. E. Jefferson and have been developed on this line since. The cornerstone sire of the last decade was Alton Perfection and most of the recent sires were by him (see catalogue). All sale cattle TB tested prior to sale and in-calf females pregnancy tested.
