Safe Found In Gorge
(N.Z. Preee Association? WESTPORT, May 10.
Parts of a safe, which contained $594 in cash when it was stolen from a Westport garage last Sunday night, were found near Hawk's Crag, in the Buller Gorge, yesterday. A motorist noticed parts of the safe lying at the bottom of a cliff, almost on the river bank. Cheques and petrol vouchers were scattered nearby but the money was missing. Westport police said it appeared that the safe had been broken up with an axe.
