Fourth Seed Defeated

The fourth-seeded Miss V. Wade, of Britain, lost to an Australian, Mrs F. ToyneMoore, in the second round of the Italian tennis championships yesterday.
It was the first upset in the women’s singles. Mrs Moore, who now lives in London, won. 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to gain a place in the last 16. It was her second victory in three weeks against the erratic Miss Wade, who leads Britain's Federation Cup challenge in Paris later this month.
Hole-In-One.— Mr» G. Riley, using a 5-iron, holed in one at the Christchurch club’s 12Syard thirteenth.
