TROTTING Leading Light May Win Tonight

The Templeton trainers, J. Grant and D. G. Jones, look to be poised for another highly successful night at Hutt Park today. They will have the same six horses which raced on Saturday to represent them, and one of the best prospects will be Leading Light in the Inter-Island Handicap.

The corresponding race on Saturday was run under free-for-all conditions and Leading Light ran out an easy winner on a s o f t i s h track. Tonight’s race will be run under special conditions and Leading Light is one of five runners on 24 yards. This son of Local Light is one of the fastest beginners in commission and from No. 4 at the barrier he should be able to work into a handy position in the first furlong No matter what track conditions prevail, he will be hard tn head. The New Zealand Oaks win-

ner, Terraton, also on' £4 yards, showed gameness to run Leading Light to a length on Saturday. She is in great heart and even from her awkwaid mark she will again be the hardest to beat.

Bewitched was not produced on Saturday because of the state of the track. If she ; strikes firm conditions tonight ‘she will make Leading Light work hard for another win. She was an impresive winner at Addington on Anzac Day. Cardinal Garrison was a costly failure on Saturday when he was well beaten in i third place. He was not at ease in the conditions and his task I was made more difficult when he was forced wide on the home turn. He is very well and could make amends on a fast track. Dark Rival, a fair fourth on

Saturday, and Lords, a big disappointment in the same race, are others expected to show up. Wairakau failed badly over 10 furlongs on Saturday, but he is expected to make amends in the two-mile Days Bay Handicap, the second leg of this double. Wairakau was most impressive when he won at Addington Raceway on Anzac Day. He is a fine stayei and if the track conditions suit, he is certain to show up Marbryn is a newcomer to this class. She has shown splendid form in the little racing she has done so far and two miles in this company might not be beyond her She will be bracketed with Galaxy and Reporter, neither of which makes much appeal. Dacron has proved his ability to master two miles and he would have to improve rery little on his fourth on the first night to get into the finish.

Cardinal Hanover, Morris, Rola Coaster, and Voodoo are others expected to race prominently. The on-course concession double will be run on the York Bay Handicap and the Worser Bay Handicap, Langburn and Light Thaw forming a likely combination.
