UPHOLSTERY PRICES NOT HIGH
Recent reports have given rise to much speculation regarding rising prices for upholstered furniture. It has been stated that the price increases are largely due to devaluation, high shipping rates and increased labour costs in New Zealand. Closer examination of these reports does not confirm this. A reporter this week visited A. J. White Ltd. in High Street, Christchurch, and was able to see quality upholstered modern and period style furniture at very greatly reduced prices. Among the many bargains there are modern styled Lounge Chairs of extremely comfortable design with reversible foam seat cushion and a removable back cushion. These chairs are covered in modern flat weaves. The normal price is £2l/-/-. These are now selling at only £lO/10/- ($21.00). The reason for this is A. J. White’s Great Annual Sale which starts this Friday at 9.10 a.m. This is the big sale everyone in Christchurch looks for. Further bargains are as follows: delightful Fireside Chairs for the kiddies in assorted coverings are selling at a really low 52/6 each ($5.25). 3-piece modern Lounge Suites covered in quality stretch vinyl with zipped reversible cushions in flat weaves. Usually priced at £95/-/- are down to £69/15/(£139.50). After reading this report we feel sure you will be making your way to A. J. Whites in High Street on Friday, the 10th May, and the subsequent days until the 17th of May. Watch for further reports.
