Individuals Instead?
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) NAIROBI. The president of the French Olympic Committee, Count Jean de Beaumont, has suggested that South African athletes should be allowed to take part in Olympic Games as individuals. The Count, on a private visit to Kenya, said that a ban on a particular country should not affect individual athletes. “The Olympics should be a gathering of youths from all over the world and I would like to see them meet without discrimination," he said. “All the flags of the world should be represented around the Olympic stadium.” He said he had voted against South Africa's inclusion as a team in the 1968 Games in Mexico because this action was in accordance with International Olympic Committee's rales on racial discrimination.
