VOLCANO DAMAGE
Official Estimate
('N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MANILA, May 6. The erupting Mayon volcano has caused about $NZ4,286,000 worth of damage to property, according to official sources. They say, the volcano, which has been erupting for the last two weeks, may still cause further damage as heavy rains cause volcanic mud to slide down the 8000 ft-high mountain. The rains are also dislodging huge boulders, and lava continues to flow down the slopes. The volcanic activity, which has become a major tourist attraction, has slowed down considerably during the last four days, but mud-flows continue to threaten towns round the base of the mountain.
