Stablemates Carterton Picks

"The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. The Otaki trainer, B. A. V. Preston, holds a strong hand in the R.S.A. Memorial Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Carterton Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow. He has Worthy Chat and Goldy Boy engaged. In spite of Goldy Boy’s impressive win on his home track last week, his stablemate could beat him this time. Worthy Chat, which broke down last year, looks likely to stage a successful comeback. Preston has been delighted with his progress since he started on a fresh campaign. Worthy Chat was fourth in the Ta Timi Kara Handicap last week. The chestnut was prominent all the way. He will strip a better horse tomorrow and could make it more difficult for Goldy Boy A soft track would favour Worthy Chat more than his stablemate.

Agricole could be the one to upset the Preston pair. He looked above average in hack class, winning at Trentham and Awapuni. He failed in a sprint at Hastings and in the Feilding Cup. Agricole has done well since and will be ridden by H. N. Rauhihi.

Anee Lane will not start and there is a doubt about Hamua. W. D. Skelton will probably ride Jen Hal, which has come to hand quickly after two sprint races. Jen Hai could make his presence felt.

Archimedes is selected to win the Gallipoli Stakes. He led all the way on the course last time out and won well. He is at his best on easy or soft tracks an dthe footing tomorrow should suit him Gymkhana and Loch Nagar look best of the others. Gymkhana came home fast at Otaki. He won at Tauherenikau on Easter Saturday but failed in the wet later at the meeting. Loch Nagar, on the other hand, would be in her element in the wet.
