HALSWELL CHURCH

Decision To Rebuild A substantial majority of the 100 parishioners of the 104-year-old St Mary’s Anglican Church. Halswell. who attended a meeting last evening voted in favour of building a new east end on to the old nave of the church. This will be the first -stage of a new church, and the new portion will use Halswell stone and have a tile roof. The decision virtually ends the controversy in the parish on whether to rebuild or restore the '' church which was badly damaged by fire on December 5. It is intended to follow the plans drawn some time earlier by Mr D. E. Donnithorne.

Junior Drama.—The Cashmere Film Company’s entries in the British Drama League's area junior drama festival this week will be film scripts presented as plays, not films as reported in ‘The Press” yesterday.
