SCHOOLS VISITS
Board Defers Decision The Canterbury Education Board has again deferred decision whether to inspect schools outside Christchurch this year. At the last meeting questions were asked whether such tours were justified in the present economic situation. Last week, although some members favoured visits, it was agreed to defer action until after the board elections.
The secretary-manager (Mr W. P. Spencer) said visits had been made almost every year since 1958 to some ward. South Canterbury and MidCanterbury had not been visited for a long time. To do both would take a fortnight.
