AMBULANCE CENTRE
Gift For New Building A gift of §544 from the Canterbury Masonic Charitable Trust has been received by the Sumner sub-centre of the St John Ambulance Brigade for its new training centre, the president of the sub-centre (Mr B. R. Hansen) said yesterday. The training centre, designed by Mr Paul Pascoe, has an area of 1150 sq. ft and will cost about 59500. The Masonic trust has stipulated that the gift should be spent on a wood lining for the hall, a wooden floor, and a stainless steel sink top. Mr Hansen said it was virtually the first outside donation that had been received by the sub-centre. He said he was extremely grateful for the money as work could be done that would otherwise have been left until it could be afforded. The new building, on the corner of Wakefield Avenue and Nayland Street, Sumner, would be ready for use in about two months time, said Mr Hansen.
