OVERSEAS STUDENTS
Hospitality Night More than 300 persons attended the annual hospitality night for overseas students in Christchurch held by the Catholic Overseas Aid Committee and the Roman Catholic Christian Family Movement at St Theresa’s Church Hall, Riccarton, on Saturday evening. For the last 10 years the Department of External Affairs has helped the Christian Family Movement make contact with new students from overseas. The hospitality night provides an opportunity for other Christchurch people to meet the students and invite them to their homes during the year. After a welcome by Mr H. Kearney and the president of the Christchurch branch of the C.F.M. (Mr I. Mclntosh), items were presented by students from Vietnam, Fiji, the Philippines, Lincoln College and the Christchurch Maori Cultural Society. Official guests included the member of Parliament for St Albans (Mr H. J. Walker) and Mrs Walker and representatives from the Department of External Affairs, the Overseas Aid Committee, C.0.R.5.0., Lincoln College, Canterbury University, and the Anglican, Presbyterian and Methodist Churches.
