No Decision On Election (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright > OTTAWA, April 21. The new Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Eliott Trudeau, said last night that no decision had been made about calling a general election. He was speaking to reporters after a Cabinet meeting, which dealt mainly with the Government’s legislative pro- | gramme in the House of Commons. Mr Trudeau said his swear-ing-in as Prime Minister had been advanced to today from Monday to have meetings so that a number of things could be considered, including the question of dissolution before Parliament assembles on Tuesday. Mr Trudeau said the election question was thoroughly discussed during the meeting, held after the swearing-in ceremonies. Political observers had predicted that Mr Trudeau might call a general election for June 17 and that he had advanced the swearing-in for this purpose. Feeling remained than an early election had not been ruled out The Cabinet is due to meet again on Monday and an election announcement might well be made then.
