TRAINS HIT IN JAPAN

Press Assn.—Copyright) TOKYO, April 19. • Nearly 50 passengers were injured, some seriously, today when an electric train collided with a freight train in Maebashi, about 70 miles north-west of Tokyo, police said. They said the passenger train of six coaches rammed into the rear of the goods train which was standing at Soja station in Maebashi city. The first three coaches were derailed, police added. At least 200 passengers were on board the train when the collision occurred shortly after noon, they said.
House Arrest.—The former Speaker of the Greek Parliament, Mr Demitrious Papaspyrou, ' had been placed under house arrest, his family said yesterday. He is the third high-ranking politician subjected to house arrest this week by the Greek military regime.—Athens, April 19.
