Save The Children Fund
Sir, —It has been reported that the Save the Children Fund organisation has to withdraw from five countries which previously benefited from its help because devaluation has cost an extra 5135,000. I have always ad mired the wonderful work done by the fund, and it is tragic to know that thousands of children will be left in their previously pathetic state As the notice of my annual subscription to the fund has just arrived, I would like to suggest to all members that we double our subscriptions this year, and every year, until the economic problem throughout the world has righted itself. Many of us would take a child into our homes if these unfortunate children were allowed into New Zealand. This would cost us far more than $4 a year. Naturally this does not apply to members who already pay for the upkeep of a family.—Yours, etc.. (Mrs) MARJORIE CLARET. Auckland, April 17, 1968.
