Soil Moisture
The Winchmore irrigation research station reported yesterday that the rainfall for the last eight days had amounted to 7.70 inches. The soil moisture deficit on the non-irrigated area at the station stood at four points compared with 182 at the same time last year. The deficit has been 200 points or greater on 54 days this season compared with 50 at this time last season. The deficit on the irrigated area was also four points and it was stated that it was unlikely that there would be further need for irrigation this season.
