STRONG BRACKET CUP FAVOURITE

"Th« Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, C. 5. Hunter's bracket of French Pass, Dark Rose, Carefree, Galaxy, and Reporter looks certain to bo a pronounced favourite In the Stratford Trotting Cup today. Three of the combination are last-start winners and French Pass is seeking a hat-trick. His success over strong opposition in the Ohawe Free-For-All at Hawera on Monday was achieved decisively. Carefree gave a solid display nf stamina when he won on the first day of the Hawera meeting but Dark Hoz>e was even more impressive on Tuesday. She revelled in the heavy going and scored by five lengths. Black On, Prince Tudor and Voodoo may provide the bracket’s main opposition. Wallacetown, with a first and three seconds in his last four races, is the logical favourite for the False Step Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. double. He is on a difficult mark of oU yards but the opposition is not as strong. Precocious and Senornui, which also raced well at Hawera, may be the next best backed. The going will be heavy.
