(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 19. The office of the Earthquake and War Damage Commission had been much quieter today than for the last few days, the Secretary of the Commission (Mr J. L. Gill) said today. Fewer than 100 claims had been received from floodstricken towns in Southland, suggesting that the damage had been less than early reports had indicated. He had no idea of what losses were being covered by private insurance companies.
