HAYWARD, Registrar. 3234 UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND RURAL CREDITS DEVELOPMENT FUND POST-GRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP IN CHEMISTRY The university Invites applications for a Post-graduate Research Scholarship in the department of chemistry. Applicants should possess an honours degree with a major in either physical or inorganic chemistry The successful applicant would be expected to work toward a Ph.D. degree in the general field of study outlined below and under the supervision of Dr J. R. Hall and Dr D. W. James. Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarship would be of three years’ duration. The nature of aqueous solutions containing phosphate and substituted phosphate species and phosphato complexes will be studied using mainly vibrational spectroscopy. The solventsolute interactions will be studied through the low energy vibrations while the nature of the dissolved species-and effect of added electrolytes, nonelectrolytes and amino acids will be studied through the vibrations of the molecule ion. The stipend will be determined in accordance with qualifications and experience.
