Rangi-Ruru Debutantes
Chrysanthemums in glowing shades of gold, cream and white decorated the Winter Garden for the RangiRuru Old Girls’ Association annual debutante ball last evening. Thirteen debutantes were presented to the association's president (Mrs B. Bluck). They were Marguerite Britten, Barbara Burgin (Swannanoa) Hilary Clements, Lynda Coleby, Mary Conway (Cheviot), Judith Cossar, Annette Finnegan, Sally Guild, Mary Johnston (Norwood), Gillian Lee (Domett), Gillian McFadden, Pamela McNaughtan, Judith Simpson (Springston). Specially invited guests included Mrs M. G. Patrick (headmistress of Rangi-ruru): Mr and Mrs J. L. Kerr, Mr and Mrs C. Rudkin, Miss N. M. Ridley, Miss E. Cornyns Thomas, Mrs R. S. Royds, Miss Betty Webb, Mr and Mrs J. N. Matson (St Marg-
aret’s Old Girls’ Association); Mr and Mrs H. R. Arney (St Mary’s Old Girls Association); Mr and Mrs L. Cox (Christchurch High School Old Girls’ Association): Mr and Mrs L. Hudson (St Andrew’s College Old Boys’ Association); Mr and Mrs T. M. R. Maskew (Christ’s College Old Boys’ Association). Mrs B. Bluck, wore a slimfitting empire-line gown of ivory silk shantung. A floating silk organza mantle was finished on the shoulder with little organza bows. Mrs M. G. Patrick chose a gown of ming-blue chiffon crepe,' the bodice rucked in a V-design and the skirt softly gathered. Members of the committee who organised the ball were Mesdames B. Bluck (president), C. W. Ballantyne, K. W. Frampton, D. E. Dalzell, D. B. Dallas, J. R. Bradley, H. Caldwell, C. W. Deal, G. Dunbar, K. M. Hay, B. A. Turner, Misses J. Hanna, D. McMillan, L. Sutherland, and M. Hyndman.
