MARLIN FROM TAURANGA
Three striped marlin caught in the Bay of Plenty were flown to the South Island yesterday to take part in a Bay of Plenty promotion planned by the National Airways Corporation. Weighing 2001 b and more, the big fish have been in cool storage since they were caught and were sent to
Christchurch deep frozen. One will stay here and the others go on to Dunedin and Invercargill. The promotion is planned for July, and each marlin will be displayed in a fish shop window for people to guess its weight. The three fish were flown from Tauranga in a Bristol
freighter. They were wrapped in. tarpaulins. The photograph shows one of the marlin being inspected at Christchurch Airport by Mr A. W. Dale (left), sales representataive of the National Airways Corporation, and Mr J. Burton, manager of the Northlands Shopping Centre. (
