Test Goes Smoothly
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 18. A civil defence communications exercise, using communications other than those offered by the Post Office, was held this afternoon throughout the South Island. The exercise, the first to test supplementary communication systems, was said in Invercargill to have gone smoothly. The communication system of the Electricity Department was used and the civil defence regional headquarters in Christchurch and the seven sub-regions were involved. Another test, using Railway’s Department communications, is planned.
