Grown Fruit Regulations and retail prices should be in relation to the wholesale price paid by the retailer for the size group and grade of the apples purchased. The apples shown are the actual average size of the five main groups. There are two grades. Fancy and Commercial. Often, only an expert is able to determine the difference between' the two grades, which is subject to degree of colour and skin defects. Look for "Apple & Pear. News" each week, which will give information on apples and pears currently on offer in retail shops.
