Obituary
MR C. G. PRYOR “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. April 17. Mr Charles Geoffrey Pryor, a former regional engineer for the Post Office in Auckland, died at the Chateau, aged 60. Mr Pryor was born in England and came to New Zealand with his parents soon after. He was educated at Auckland and Mount Albert Grammar Schools and later graduated bachelor of science from the University of Auckland. He was a fellow of the British Institution of Electrical Engineers and in 1965 was chairman of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers. Mr Pryor joined the Post Office as a cadet engineer in 1924 and served in Wellington, Tlmaru, Hamilton, Napier, Whangarei, and Auckland. After retiring in 1965 he worked for a consultant engineering flrm. During the Second World War Mr Pryor was a lieuten-ant-colonel in command of the 2nd New Zealand Division of Signals in Italy. He was mentioned in dispatches and was later awarded the 0.8. E. He is survived by his wife and a 15-year-old son.
