Market Subdued But Trend Firmer
Trading on New Zealand stock exchanges continued on its subdued note yesterday, although the market was firmer. Price movements were narrow. The Australian list was very firm.
Some good gains were made by New Zealand’ leaden. South British advanced 8c to 368 c in an ex-dividend sale, while N.2. Forest Products rose 4c to 285 c. N.Z. Refrigerating gained another 2c to 98c and is now only 2c below par. Truth advanced 5c to 145 c. N.Z. Steel sold in Auckland 4c higher at 76c far the 50c paid shares. However, there were sales in Wellington and Dunedin at 101 c, for the
shares now quoted paid to 7Se. These sale prices are equal to the sale at 76c in Auckland. Dominion Breweries and General Foods edged down 1c to 169 c and 102 c respectively. B.H.P. was active throughout the country and ended 20c higher at 2020 c in Christchurch after a sale at 2030 c in Wellington. Bank of New South Wales and Colonial Sugar alio showed good gains In the oversea* list.
