NEW MOTORWAY ROUND WELLINGTON’S WATERFRONT.—The Thorndon overbridge section of the first stage of the Wellington foothills motorway. Two lanes each way will be opened to traffic next Monday, with one-lane “on” and “off” ramps at Aotea Quay on the outskirts of the commercial area of the city. The “on” ramp is shown in the middle foreground. The first stage of the motorway (Ngauranga-Aotea Quay) is 2.7 miles, and the overbridge section just over three-quarters of a mile.
