CLOSE FINISH
Displease, Renrgy, and My Greatest supplied a thrilling finish to the Tasman Handicap at Riccarton yesterday. They finished in that order, separated by heir a head and a neck. The closeness of the finish compen sated to some extent for the disappointment for backers of the favourite. Beau Leigh, which tell on the home turn. Beau Leigh was carrying 83645, including $2Oll to win, after an easy win at Rangiora on April 8. His rider. R. B. Marsh, took a bruising and a shaking in the fall and was advised not to ride again for the day Displease's win also placed some value on Rangiora form. Messrs D. F. Dailey's and C. R. G. Woodham's Dogger Bank filly was runner-up in the hlghwelght there on April 8. Ronray was also placed at Rangiora. and My Greatest was third in the Warstep Stakes on Easter Monday. My Greatest lost some skin when she dropped her South Otago owner-trainer, Mr H- G C. McLachlan, at Riccarton racecourse yesterday morning, but her placed run shewed aha pad not been seriouaiy affected by the incident. Mir MCLaehlan injured hie neck and suffered abrasions. ‘ J
