(New Zealand Press Association)
DUNEDIN, April 17.
A total of 2603 people made the 33-mile Milford Track walk in parties organised by the Government Tourist Bureau in the season which ended at Easter.
The manager of the Dunedin branch of the Government Tourist Bureau (Mr G. T. Robinson) said the figure would have topped 2700 if bad weather had not affected 20 of the walks. The total number of walkers over the track was thought to be about 3500. Maintenance work will be carried out on the track'dur-
irig the winter. It will open again in November. The season began late in November and ended with the walk which left Te Anau on Good Friday. Thirty-one people (the maximum is 40) went on this walk. Drizzle fell for some of the trip but the last day was “beautiful," one of the trampers said today.
