FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression is moving eastwards over the Chatham Islands. Pressures are relatively high over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury.—South-westerlies remaining fresh in exposed places about the coast, but elsewhere winds mostly moderate and variable; cloudy areas with scattered patches of rain. Marlborough.—Fresh south-westerlies at times on the Kaikoura coast, but elsewhere moderate north-westerlies predominating; mainly fine and rather cool; isolated showers. Nelson.—South-west winds, fresh at times; showers about the ranges, but mainly fine elsewhere; rather cool. Buller and Westland.—Fresh south-westerlies in exposed parts of Buller; elsewhere winds moderate and rather variable; scattered showers but considerable fair periods: cool. Outlook. —Scattered patches of rain chiefly in Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
