Safety Belt Check
The Transport Department in Christchurch considers it a pity that so few people are using safety belts in cars. In a check of 184 cars made at Kumara, Greymouth and Woodend on Saturday the department’s officers found that 99 were fitted with belts, 53 had belts which were not worn, and 22 cars had belts which were only worn by some of the occupants. In only 10 cars were all the occupants using safety belts. A department spokesman said all chhecks were made in restricted speed areas. This was where most accidents occurred rather than out on the open road. The safety belt check was made throughout New Zealand on Saturday. “THINKING OF A HOLIDAY." -THE PRESS" "Holiday and Hotel Accommodation" Column Will Solve Your Accommodation Problem. I
