1400 Storm Claims And More On Way

WELLINGTON, November 16. Between 1400 and 1500 claims from property owners who have suffered from the storms that have lashed New Zealand in the last eight days have been received so far by the head office of the Earthquake and War Damage Commission in Wellington.
Dozens of claims are still flowing into branch offices. A further 250 claims arrived from Christchurch this morning. Claims from flooded Southland have yet to arrive. The Secretary of the Commission (Mr J. L. Gill) said
I today that hundreds of claims . would be for minor damage. I It would be impossible to say • how much would be needed from the commission’s s2}m - Disaster Fund. 1 Property owners should sub- - mit their claims within 30 I days of the damage.
