Change In Policy?
(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 15. There is an urgent need to nationalise the whole of the national transport system, according to a Government statement outlining the plan to create a Ministry of Transport. But just a minute . . . there is less in this than meets the eye. Embarrassed authorities from the Prime Minister’s Department explained yesterday that "nationalise” had accidentally been typed for “rationalise” in preparing the handout There was, they agreed, in fact an urgent need to rationalise the already nationalised checking of such statements. The background paper in question spoke not of a transport system but of a “transportation structure” and used the title chosen by the State i—“ Ministry of Transportation”.
