Housework For Husbands
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.AJ LONDON, April 13. Husbands of working wives should be encouraged to work in the home, .cooking, cleaning, mending', sewing and washing, says the Fabian Society, a Left-wing intellectual group, in a report just published. “The wife’s work outside the home must be regarded as being as important, proportionately as well paid and as socially significant as her husband’s,” the report says. “The wife should be able to have adequate time off for holidays and be able to stay in bed when ill. The husband’s domestic competence would ensure security in the home.” The report also says that husbands should receive a “paternity allowance" to enable them to stay at home during their wives' confinements.
